NYIT 2009 Commencement – May 17th 2009 – Windy w/ rain!
As of today I have officially graduated from NYIT (New York Institute of Technology) with a bachelors of science in Engineering and Information Security. It was a long and expensive four years where I feel I have learned a lot about myself and the people around me. And there is this saying where you must let go of the past to ensure you have a stronger future, I finally understand what this saying means and I will start using this new learned understanding of this saying in my future.
Commencement is the day when you celebrate the years of work and effort you have placed into a subject or field of study, but at the same time, with academics it is also the day you celebrate the fact that change is needed for your future, some may wish to continue their studies and some may wish to start building a career. However in most Commencement ceremonies, it is the day you recognize and remember your friends from the past few years for the rest of your life. But this fact has always been misleading as on Commencement day it is also the day you realize where you will be in the next few years and you are able to look around at the people who surround you and see ideas and impacts they have made on you. No matter the decision Commencement day marks the day of change and the next few years of your future!
This may sound rather mean and unethical, however for me Commencement day was the day I saw who people really were; friends, colleagues, business partners, and people who really have no purpose in your life. And I will be making these changes over the next few days. Way before this Commencement ceremony there were 2 people who helped me throughout my college years, as little as they may know they have but the ideas, and the reasoning they have provided far exceeded any information I would have gotten from anyone else. My Commencement day was great because now I move on with a new beginning, a fresh start….. but here are the memories of my last day of my last 4 years……
